Kids will be kids

Parents, raise your hand if you are over hearing ‘kids will be kids’ when your children do something so far out of what they have been taught that your head is spinning? How about the juvenille systems that allow teens under 16 to get away with anything short of murder and the wonderful adult system that graciously punishes them with it’s full weight when they do happen to turn 16? If we are ignoring the issues when they are under 15, why are we suprised at our prison populations and suicide rates?

As parents, we should not only lead by example, but we should not put limitations and glass ceilings in place for our children. Any of us who have had children or have experience with kids should know that children only do 10% of what they hear and about 90% of what they see. I see so many parents say, as long as you pass Ill be happy. It should be more than that. Passing in most cases is 70%. I believe we should say, we will not accept any less than your best. We will not accept any less than an A. If we tell our children its okay to give 70% in school, how do you think they will live their lives? You have to raise your children to put 100% in everything they do. Kids will be kids, yes, but its up to parents to be parents!
